A quick counter attack exposes too many flaws

Today saw Arsenal succumb to a title shattering blow. A three one loss to a title rival at home is just not good enough. I think there were four reasons why we lost today.

  1. Denilson

I hate to pick out people but the much promised Brazilian has not been pulling his weight so far this season. I view him very much as a crap Belletti. Someone to bring on to keep the ball, keep the team ticking over, But today he couldn’t even do that. He was at fault for two if not three of the goals, with the third being inexcusable. The man is a professional footballer and he can’t evenĀ control a ball. He was by far and away Bolton’s best player in our 4-2 victory last Wednesday. I have lost my patience with him.

2.Alumina

A good goalie is worth an extra ten points. Ours most be worth -15! It was a shockingly poor performance by anyone standards let alone a top four premiership goalie. He was severely caught out for Nani’s cross and then decided he would swipe it towards his own net. He has his ups such as the penalty save against Hull but against Man U earlier in the season he gave away a penalty when we were dominating. It surely is only a matter of time before Wenger loses faith in the SpaniardĀ . God know we already have.

3. Lack of protection for Clichy

After reading some of the other Arsenal blogs, i decided to stick up for the little Frenchman after he has taken a beating. Clichy usually has little if no protection against most teams. Our formation allows him to burst forward but also exposes his flank. Arshavin is not likely to track back a winger and Song rarely drifts over to the left to cover, which leaves the left back usually in a one on one position.

4.Someone to hold up the ball

Playing Arshavin out-of-place is going to wreck any chance of silverware we have this season. A forward to hold the ball up is needed desperately. Hopefully Bendtner can do a job through the middle but usually the ball bounces straight off of him. Also this roaming of strikers needs to stop. When Nicklas came on he was almost player as another winger, we needed him in the box to get his head on some of the last ditch cross being put in.

In all fairness if Arshavin had brought either his shooting boots or looking glasses we could of been out of sight in the first twenty minutes but wasting good chances is what we do best.

Would be good to hear all of your opinions
